I'm the MAC-Guyver

I am a cosmetics genius! Last night I made the most brilliant discovery. Basically, I solved the problem of smoothly covering large blemishes. Ladies, you know the type I mean, they are like a third nipple trying to form on your face... usually the chin area. When you try to cover them, the skin looks flaky, uneven. Worst of all, you go through the painstaking process of concealing it with your multitude of concealers, brushes, powders, and see that within the hour (sometimes before leaving the house) the red of the blemish pops out again to make an appearance. So, now you not only have this red blemish, but caked make up surrounding it and drawing focus to it. Making you feel less than confident.

Well, the idea came to me in a dream, and now I am going to share it with you. I road tested it myself, because my skin has started an uprising as of late. Not only did the blemish get completely covered, smoothly, but it lasted for over 8 hours, and sweating, eating and drinking. It also gave the added benefit of concentrating the color or the concealer, to give more coverage with less product.

Here it is, simple you only need two products (plus a brush)

1. Urban-Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion*. If you have a fair to medium complexion, use the Eden shade for extra skin evening. I think that the original shade would work for all other complexions (and fair as well)

2. Mineral foundation/concealer shade. I use Bare Escentuals Bisque for most complexions, but you may need to experiment. Choosing this shade should be like choosing any other blemish concealer shade: just a touch darker than your skin, though an exact match would work as well.

The Brush I use is the concealer brush from Bare Escentuals.

Step one:
after having applied foundation to your face, apply Urban Decay Primer Potions directly over blemish, making sure to cover it entirely (pimple will still be visible)
Allow to dry- do not touch!

Step two:
With concealer brush, apply mineral foundation over blemish. Make sure to use enough product, but not too much. You will find that the concealer will appear to have a higher amount of pigment in it, giving you much better coverage.

Step three:
If necessary, blend out concealer into foundation on surrounding skin (with the right colors, this shouldn't be necessary, unless you have uneven pigmentation)

Step four:
Apply the rest of your make up as normal. You may apply loose powder with a brush lightly over concealed area, but not necessary, unless you are applying to the rest of your face.

There you have it. I hope this helps you out in a bind. Of course, a raised blemish will not disappear completely, but it will be smooth and skin toned, so only in bad lighting and/or close up should they be noticeable.

Try it, and let me know what you think.

*Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion ( or any other eye shadow primer) is a must for those who wear eyeshadow, so if you are new to it, use it to get more color from your shadow, and crease-less, stay put make up all day.

**I do not work for, or represent any of these brands- or any brand, for that matter.

Holy bejeebers, it's my birthday!!!!

I know, I know I am not keeping up with this blog as I should.  Today is my birthday, so I think I can get some absolution, yes?  Birthdays mean never having to say your sorry... or doing the dishes.

So, except that it is stuck in the dead of winter, my birthday is and probably always will be my favorite day of every year.   It appeals to the princess in me.  Sure, I would love every day where I am the center of attention, but not everyone is on board with this plan.  (much to my disappointment) Today is a day I can wear a tiara, a pretty dress and spoil the inner child in me.  I have been lobbying for as long as I can remember for this day to be a national, nay, international holiday.  The introduction of social networking has at least helped in this regard.  I think I have my birthday being celebrated in at least 10 or so countries and in varying time zones.

I should also mention, that my birthday is celebrated for me for as long as possible! It really started a week ago and will no doubt continue through till March 7th, thereby ending the birthday month. For a time, I hated the idea that anyone else should have a birthday in this time. Since then, I have learned to accept that sharing my celebration just makes it that much sweeter.  I really am kidding about that last part, but in a small way, not at all : )

For some time I have been doing a birthday countdown of sorts. These days that takes place, for the most part on Facebook.  Either people find it humorous or completely annoying.  If you know me at all, you know that it is as much a part of what makes me tick as my love of makeup and shoes and boys.  Either you get that and get me, or you don't.  And if you don't, your loss.

The Countdown started back in high school. There was a practice of people getting balloons from their friends on their birthday.  Every year as the big day approached I would gently (or not so gently) nudge my friends a little reminder of the day coming up and my love of balloons. Then,  something more sinister began occurring.  You see, my best friend at the time, Shina, and I would exchange notes everyday.  I spent more time and energy in those notes than any homework or classroom assignment.  These notes were episodic and illustrated.  Well, sometime around January the 7th every year, a strange phenomena would take place.  This phenomena came to be known as the Phantom Balloon.  The Phantom Balloon was not penned by me (I swear it) and yet, there it was poking up in my notes to Shina.  Phantom Balloon was a balloon who wore a mask that hid one side of his face... much like that Phantom of the Opera fellow.

Phantom balloon never said anything. He just loomed in the upper corners of sentences and high rafters of the margins.  His presence instilled a fear of falling florescent lights in the cafeteria if his demands should not be met. He was my Angel of Lunacy and he delivered every year.

Yeah, so I am nuts... but it's MY BIRTHDAY!!!

So just a little catch-up

Lots and lots of awesome have been happening and keeping me busy.  Just finished the second version of The Corsettes show.  It was a sold out and fabulous audience.  Left a day later to go visit my pop in Florida and came back home just in time for a party which tired me out so much I slept through most of the super bowl.

The Glorious Cause or Josh Get Me Shoes campaign has lost some steam.  But, when there are awesome shoes involved, I may be down, but I am never out!

Some things I promise to write about in the next month or so (I promise)

PigDeath- the new feminism
My Battles with Chronic Illness
A little more Naneenoo back-story

All this and the ever Boycrazed rantings that only I can provide.

Speaking of which, Mr, Olbermann still is my top favorite celebrity "Boyfriend" AND the only one who follows me on twitter!  I can't even say how much I miss his show.  I still have the last one on my DVR and am loathe to erase it.  I hope that he is back on TV very soon.

Today I will spend the day hoping to get a birthday shout-out from him.  Silly, I know.  Especially since I get so much birthday love already.  What can I say, I am a princess, I always want more!

I better get running, my phone is ringing with a relative waiting to sing to me... I LOVE MY BIRTHDAY!!
